With Restrictions easing across the country, BE PREPARED FOR YOUR RETURN
Have you recently re-opened your salon, about to, or are thinking about it? It’s important to do what you feel is best for your salon, staff and community. We’ve put together a list of ideas to help you feel as prepared as possible for a smooth salon re-opening.
Complete the COVID-19 Infection Control training as offered by the Department of Health to ensure you understand how to safely operate in the current climate - See https://covid-19training.gov.au. Allay any fears your customers might have about coming into the salon by letting them know that the salon has undertaken the training. Post on your social media and let them know at the time of booking.
Salon sanitisation is paramount. Ensure your salon is in tip top shape and thoroughly cleaned before you open your doors. Keep on top of regular daily cleans and thorough cleans at the end of every day. Consider getting your salon professionally sprayed.
Ensure your chairs are set 1.5m apart or have every second chair in use to practice social distancing measures. Limit the number of people that can come into your salon at any one time.
It's a good idea to refrain from offering communal or shared items to your customers such as magazines. Let your customers know in advance to bring their own books or magazines and whether your offer wifi facilities to keep them entertained.
Equip your salon with the essential hygiene items that will allow you to operate in a safe environment. Provide hand sanitiser for all clients and staff and make sure that everyone knows where to find it. Offer masks to clients or staff if they want to wear them. Consider use of disposable towels / razors / neck strips / gloves to keep your staff protected and your customers feeling safe.
Consider expanding your service offering such as providing express services for those customers wishing to get in and out. Instill the important of home maintenance products and ensure every customer is going home with a retail product regime to maintain their hair at home.
Ensure that your customers can easily find out if you are re-opening or have opened by updating your Instagram bio with “WE ARE OPEN”. Communicate your new opening hours / policies and safety measures on your social media, through email blasts or via phone.
Celebrate and show what's happening in your salon on social media. Reassure and remind your clients that this is a positive and happy update and that you are there to get them looking and feeling good after weeks of isolation and home hair care routines!
