Melbourne Fashion Week Runway Hair Looks

Melbourne Fashion Week 2021 (MFW21) celebrated the best in Australian Fashion, showcasing a variety of styles from influential designers including our favourite type of styling – hair. Peter Beckett, Haircare Group Creative Director, handpicked his favourite hair looks from MFW21 and outlined the products that will help you recreate the styles in your salon.

Textured Styles

Effortless Textured Hair was showcased in the Secret Garden Runway to compliment the outfits in hues of nature. Nothing screams easy, undone texture more than Evo’s The Shag Beach Paste. The perfect product to create an effortless look with a natural matte finish.

The Aquarium Runway, set in the SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium, showcased models embracing a wet look hairstyle with oomph. Peter recommends mixing Evo’s Macgyver Multi-Use Mousse and She-bang-a-bang Dry Wax Sprayto recreate this high fashion look. Macgyver works to create volume and touchable texture whilst She-bang-a-bang will hold the style in place with a flexible, natural hold. Who doesn’t love an Evo cocktail?

Riverview Runway showcased the likes of Bec + Bridge, Aje and MANNING CARTELL. Set on Seafarers Bridge with a beautiful city skyline backdrop, the hair was styled airy and soft while combating the city’s ‘four-season in one day’ type weather. Peter recommends Color Wow’s Dream Coat to provide protection from the season changes and Color Wow’s Style on Steroids to add texture.

Glossy Styles

The Federation Square Runway celebrated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander designers. The intricate designs encapsulated vibrant colours and bold prints. Models had slicked-back hair, with a high gloss finish. To add this mirror-like shine to your style, Peter recommends Color Wow’s Pop and Lock High Gloss Serum which gives high shine and sleek texture that will tame any flyaways.

Structured Styles

The Fashion X Art set at the National Gallery of Victoria presented an immersive journey of fashion and art with live performances and installations amongst the gallery. With hair styled away from the face and created into an art of its own, Evo Miss Malleable is the perfect tool to create a re-workable hold whilst boosting humidity resistance.

CLASSIC STYLES

The Queen & Collins Closing Runway styled by Kate Gaskin featured designers such as Aaizel, Oroton, Viktoria & Woods and White Story- all who are known for timeless and modern designs. With sophistication and contemporary fashion, a sleek straight hairstyle will always match. Color Wow Dream Coat is the perfect match for this chic style. The ultra-light spray adds a supernatural, glossy shine that stands strong against humidity.

A true highlight from MFW21, the Plaza Ballroom Runway directed by stylist Deni Todorovic led an inclusive cast of models down the runway with styles by Camilla, Jack London and MISHA. With the dial way, way up on glamour and colour. Most models rocked glamourous waves, which can be created with Moroccanoil’s Perfect Defense for heat protection and Smoothing Lotion to hold those luscious curls in place.
