Step 1: Start with volume
The secret to this look starts well before the pins come out. Prep the hair with a volumising mousse to build body, grip, and lasting hold without weighing down the finished style.

Step 2: Blow-dry and set
Blow-dry with the KALEO Pro Dryer on a hot, fast setting, focusing on creating plenty of volume through the roots and lengths.
Follow with a traditional set using the KALEO Pro Curl Tong at 180°C. Allow the curls to cool completely for around 20 minutes before brushing out. This creates the soft, workable movement needed to build the final shape.

Step 3: Twist, but keep it undone
Apply texture spray generously throughout the hair before twisting it into a French twist. Rather than smoothing everything down, allow the hair to fall over the top and keep some natural movement through the shape.
This is where the classic French twist becomes the softer, more modern style seen across Shay Sullivan’s viral wedding look.

Step 4: Create the sweeping fringe
Shape the front into a soft, sweeping fringe, keeping volume and movement around the face. Add texture powder for extra grip where needed, followed by hairspray to help hold the shape.

Step 5: Pin into place
Mold the hair into the final shape, pinning as you go. Texture is your friend here. The more workable grip you create, the easier it is for the bobby pins to hold the style securely without losing that undone finish.
Once everything is sitting exactly where you want it, finish with a strong hold hairspray.
