How to Promote Mother's Day Gifts


Mother’s Day is fast approaching (Sunday May 14), which means for some clients there’s just one salon visit between now and then!

It’s time to start showing them how they can buy their Mother’s Day gifts in your salon. We have some tried and tested ways of promoting your salon as a one-stop-gifting-shop this Mother’s Day that we're excited to share with you. Clients may be looking to buy for their mum, wanting some ideas to give to their kids, or perhaps to even treat themselves. No matter the reason, they can have their Mother’s Day shopping done before their colour has even finished processing!



By promoting gift sets across multiple marketing channels, you will be able to reach more customers and remind them of how they can have salon style hair at home - and support their local salon at the same time.



Updating any physical promotional assets such as mirror clings, counter cards or posters helps your salon look fresh for your regular clients. For those salons who have a physical drinks menu, you could include a small Mother’s Day print out in or near the menu.

Optimise the presentation of the products by displaying them on a shelf, front desk or display window! You’ll be surprised how much attention that will attract and motivate your clients to enquire further, possibly leading to a purchase!



Don’t be afraid to reach out to customers who don’t regularly visit your salon. This could be by telephone, text message or even email. Are you calling your customers to book them in for an appointment, reminding them of their appointment, or just checking in? Take the opportunity to let them know about your Mother’s Day gift range. It’s nice to get in early because let’s face it, we all leave shopping to the last minute. Inspire your customers to shop with you. You can use this content (be it visual or written) across email, social media and your website.



Social Media
Start sharing Mother’s Day themed content (posts, reels and stories) across your Instagram and Facebook accounts showcasing the gift packs and savings ($). Consider getting in early to keep your salon top of mind when it comes to gifting considerations.

Some content ideas include:

  • unboxing a gift pack
  • gift ideas under a certain budget (eg. Under $50, Under $100)
  • showing a product in use
  • sharing a display of products or ‘shelfie’ from your salon

Video content such as reels usually receive the best engagement, so have a go at recording yourself showing your top products or gift ideas. You can also promote your posts through Instagram advertising to reach a wider audience.

You could update your Instagram bio to include a Mother’s Day gift pack message, or your Facebook cover photo could be temporarily changed to a salon ‘shelfie’ of your Mother’s Day pack stack.

If you send email newsletters to your clients and prospective clients, you could include a Mother’s Day banner in the email or include a simple message in the introduction of your email as a subtle prompt.
